Bad Vilbel, November 22, 2013

STADA Arzneimittel AG is supporting the victims of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines with urgently needed medications. The pharmaceutical group with headquarters in Bad Vilbel is donating pain relief medication and antibiotics valued at EUR 20,000 via aid organizations Human Plus and humedica.

The packages with the life-saving medications were loaded at STADA's logistics centre in Florstadt already on Wednesday and are on their way to the Philippines. They will now be sent via air freight by the participating aid organizations and brought as quickly as possible to the disaster area. "After we saw images of the destruction in the Philippines it was very clear to us that we wanted to help as quickly and as unbureaucratically as possible", says Hartmut Retzlaff, Chairman of the Executive Board at STADA. "The crisis teams are only able to help the people in these areas when they have the proper medicines available. As a pharmaceutical manufacturer, we therefore wanted to do our part immediately."

The STADA medications will be used primarily in a hospital in the provincial capital Tacloban. Mobile teams of doctors from the aid organization will also attempt to reach the villages in the region with the medication.
